Nuno Espirito Santo’s rescue mission
West Ham United have had a conveyor belt of managers since sacking David Moyes, with Julen Lopetegui and Graham Potter both having a crack before Nuno Espirito Santo was appointed. The turnover in players and coaches has had a detrimental effect, with the Hammers fighting for Premier League survival deep into the 2025-26 season. An upturn in form since the turn of the year has given them a great chance of beating the drop, but Nuno and his side still have work to do to avoid dropping into the Championship next season.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s path to West Ham United
Nuno’s managerial career has seen him enjoy spells in his native Portugal, Saudi Arabia, and Spain. He also had stints in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers, Tottenham Hotspur, and Nottingham Forest in the Premier League before being appointed by the Hammers in September 2025.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s career achievements
Nuno won a couple of trophies during his time in the Saudi Pro League with Al-Ittihad, while he took his Wolves side up as champions in the 2017-18 season. He also led Forest to Europe via their league placing last season, before he was sacked early in the 2025-26 campaign prior to making the move to West Ham.
