Taty Castellanos drops clear hint he’s leaving West Ham with emotional message – ‘Can’t believe it’
Taty Castellanos failed to mention anything about the 2026-27 season in a lengthy message he penned to West Ham United supporters.
After joining West Ham at the beginning of last season’s January transfer window, Castellanos quickly became a popular figure among the Hammers support.
The 27-year-old Argentine international brought industry and fight when those traits were severely lacking from Nuno Espirito Santo‘s team, and that saw him instantly win a place in the hearts of fans.
He was also able to net seven times from 22 total appearances in all competitions, with six of those coming in the Premier League.
Unfortunately, his arrival wasn’t enough to help West Ham put enough points on the board to avoid relegation, and as Championship football awaits, Castellanos’ future now looks firmly up in the air.

What has Taty Castellanos said about West Ham’s season?
Castellanos could fire West Ham to promotion if the £26million winter signing decides to stay at the London Stadium, but right now, that’s a big if.
However, even despite suffering relegation in his first few months with the team, the Hammers do appear to have gotten under his skin.
| Castellanos’ 25-26 PL stats | Result |
| Goals per 90 | 0.39 |
| Shots per 90 | 3.32 |
| Chances created per 90 | 0.77 |
| Aerial duels won | 42.9% |
| Average match rating | 7.0 |
Taking to his Instagram account, Castellanos posted a lengthy and heartfelt message to the Irons faithful, in which he reflects on his time with the club so far, and how he’s processing being relegated.
However, it’s perhaps what he doesn’t say in the message that is the most telling part of it, and that’s because the striker fails to mention anything about next season or being ready to put things right in 2026-27.
Typically, if a player knows they’re staying with a particular team for another season, they’ll talk about their goals for the following campaign and make it clear they’re not going anywhere, but Castellanos hasn’t done that.
“I’ve let a few days pass in an attempt to find the right words, but at times like these, words are superfluous and it’s better to let the images speak for themselves,” Castellanos said.

“These are sad days for all Irons. Myself included. I still can’t believe it. The sadness over what has happened continues.
“Fortunately, the Irons’ spirit never dies. And thanks to that, we were able to fight until the very last moment.
“Thank you for your unconditional support from day one! COYI!”
Could West Ham make a profit on Castellanos?
West Ham will need to raise funds this summer, with reports suggesting they’re looking to recoup around £150m in player sales.
They do have a number of saleable assets, and given how impactful Castellanos was in such a short space of time for the Hammers last season, they shouldn’t have any issues finding interested parties.
To bag six goals from 18 Premier League outings after joining halfway through the season, in an eventual relegated side as well, was an impressive return from the Argentine, and will have surely caught the attention of clubs.

So, considering he’s still in his prime at 27, West Ham wouldn’t be out of line whatsoever to be demanding more than the £26m they reportedly paid to sign him if they are to sell this summer.
