Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in signing Soungoutou Magassa after West Ham United were relegated.

The Hammers were sent down to the Championship on the final day of the season despite winning 3-0 against Leeds United.

That has prompted very early transfer speculation with weeks remaining until the summer transfer window opens at the London Stadium.

Big names like Jarrod Bowen and Mateus Fernandes could be on their way out, with the Frenchman potentially set to join them.

Magassa could finally join Frankfurt just a year after he decided to make an East London switch from Monaco.

A drop into the second tier has already prompted so much interest in the Irons’ stars, but they could also let go of struggling squad players.

The defensive midfielder certainly fits into the latter category after a pretty dismal debut season in the Premier League.

Struggle was apparent for the 22-year-old under both Graham Potter and Nuno Espirito Santo, as he never secured a regular starting role.

He is now a Championship player, but he could be on the move before the new season begins in E20.

German outlet BILD reported on Monday that Frankfurt have renewed their interest in the Frenchman after the Hammers were relegated.

He is said to be the sort of profile that the Bundesliga side are after this summer after an eighth-place league finish.

Magassa only signed for West Ham nine months ago, but could now make a move that was so nearly possible in the last summer window.

Frankfurt tried to sign Magassa in August 2025

The Hammers brought the midfielder in from Monaco as he looked ready to sit at the base of midfield for many years to come at the London Stadium.

Things haven’t worked out that way in E20, but he so nearly moved elsewhere last summer.

West Ham reached an agreement for the Frenchman before Frankfurt attempted to hijack a deal in the final hours.

He had already undergone his medical at Rush Green, but that didn’t stop the Germans from attempting to land his signature ahead of the Irons.

Magassa himself was tempted to move to Deutsche Bank Park, but eventually signed for Potter’s side.

A move to the Bundesliga could now be on the cards as he finally gets his own way after tasting relegation this season.
