Freddie Potts signs on the dotted line to quit West Ham - here's everything you need to know

Freddie Potts' West Ham United exit is nearing close to confirmation.

The Englishman has spent 17 years at the East London club, having come through the Hammers' academy.

That association will end once he is confirmed as a Club Brugge player, the team that is reportedly eyeing his signature.

Details over Potts' move to Club Brugge have been emerging througout the last few days.

It now appears the final points of the deal are being worked on which would lean towards an imminent official announcement.

That is amid new suggestions that a contract has been signed between Potts and the Belgian Pro League side.

The length of Freddie Potts' Club Brugge contract

It will be sad to see one of your own depart from West Ham, especially as Potts featured 22 times in the Premier League last season.

But that reality is nearing completion.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Potts has now agreed to a four-year contract with Club Brugge.

The deal will keep him at the Belgian outfit until 2030.

Based on previous reports over Club Brugge's move for Potts, West Ham are set to earn £10.2million in pure profit, thanks to him being a homegrown talent.

Should Potts' exit be confirmed within the next couple of days, that could West Ham's third sale this summer without any incomings.

It follows after Mateus Fernandes was sold to Tottenham, with Crysencio Summerville leaving for Al Hilal.

Could Arne Engels be West Ham's Potts replacement?

Business in midfield has only really pointed towards the possible signing of Celtic midfielder Arne Engels.

Currently, the Hammers and Glasgow side are apart in their valuation of the Belgian, with an improved West Ham bid mooted.

However, Engels is not really that similar to Potts, with the latter often sitting much deeper throughout attacks.

So, there very well be more work to be done in the market if Nuno Espirito Santo feels his squad is left light without a player like Potts.

It certainly has taken time for the Irons to begin their work in the market, but with the Championship season two weeks away, they are stepping up their pursuits.

As well as Engels, West Ham are confident of landing an £18m deal for Troy Parrott.

Patience has had to be afforded this summer, but the Hammers are finally getting their house in order.
