West Ham Zone have previously reported that Nottingham Forest had a £25million bid for Engels rejected in the January transfer window.
This is an important figure for the Hammers, as it's not yet been reported what the fee could be for the former Belgian international.
According to an update from the Daily Record, Engels is "on the verge" of leaving Celtic.
That's because West Ham are preparing to offer an improved and hopefully final bid for the midfielder after their previous two fell short of the Hoops' valuation.
It's said that the player is already down the line with personal terms, and the switch is expected to progress in the coming days.
Celtic boss Martin O'Neill is "resigned" to losing Engels, as West Ham may know the structure of a deal that could work in their favour.

Engels has been with Celtic for two seasons, previously working under Brendan Rodgers, who was a big fan of his.
