Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio injury update shared for West Ham United v Nottingham Forest

David Moyes has shared an injury update on Lucas Paqueta and Michail Antonio ahead of the West Ham game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday (17 February).

Speaking in his pre-match press conference on Friday (16 February, via Ben Dinnery), the Hammers boss confirmed that the Brazilian international is back on the grass, but that the 26-year-old is not going to be fit for the clash at the City Ground.

He added that Antonio is back in the squad and that the Irons will assess how the 33-year-old forward is before the match, while Kurt Zouma and Edson Alvarez have been deemed fit to play against Forest.

West Ham receive mixed news on stars ahead of Nottingham Forest

It’s certainly a positive that Antonio looks set to return against his old side after he’s been out for the past few months through injury.

While Jarrod Bowen has done a decent job in the Jamaica international’s absence, West Ham have missed having a focal point leading the line and providing a bit of a presence to occupy the opposition’s defenders.

It’s disappointing that Paqueta isn’t quite at full fitness yet, but it sounds as though the attacking midfielder is getting closer and shouldn’t be too far away from a return.

There had been concerns raised over Alvarez, but he should now be fit to line up alongside captain Zouma as we look to bounce back from the embarrassing 6-0 defeat against Arsenal on 11 February.

Moyes will know the importance of his players responding against Forest as it could play a significant role in deciding where his future will be beyond this season.
