Fabrizio Romano shares update on triple West Ham United transfer swoop for Jeremy Doku, Jesse Lingard and Cole Palmer

Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on West Ham pushing for a triple transfer swoop for Jeremy Doku, Jesse Lingard and Cole Palmer.

Writing on his Substack (19 August), the reliable transfer journalist reports that the club are not currently focusing on deals for Anderlecht winger Doku or free agent Lingard, while a deal for Palmer remains “not easy”.

But the Hammers are still in the market for new additions and hope to add to their squad before the window closes on September 1st.

West Ham

“Jeremy Doku remains another target for Manchester City,” he wrote.

“They had discussions with Rennes and positive discussions on the player side, but before agreeing anything, they want to make sure that the situation is not going to be a big fight on the player side.

“We heard rumours about West Ham but they’re focusing on different things at this moment. So let’s see what’s going to happen. Doku remains a priority target for City but they don’t want to enter into any bidding war.

“For Jesse Lingard, West Ham are not discussing a contract at this stage. And with regards to Cole Palmer, for sure the Hammers remain interested but Manchester City will only accept a deal under their conditions. Not easy.”

Interesting

The club are obviously focused mainly on bringing in Mohammed Kudus and keeping Lucas Paqueta right now, but there is time to do more than one incoming deal.

All of Doku, Lingard and Palmer play in similar positions so bringing them all in would surely be unlikely, but Lingard potentially getting a short-term deal to add depth while bringing in one of Palmer or Doku could be a great option.

West Ham

Both have great pace and dribbling ability and would add a new dimension to the Hammers attack, and with Man City reportedly chasing Doku too that could open the door for Palmer to move.

Alternatively if the club decide to keep hold of Palmer, that could allow West Ham to steal in and agree a deal for Doku ahead of them, so it’s a tricky situation.

There’s two weeks to go of the window and plenty is still expected to happen, so this is a triangle of deals that is certainly worth keeping an eye on.
