Luis Guilherme transfer: West Ham United ready to sell Tim Steidten signing

West Ham United are in talks to sell Luis Guilherme to a Saudi club in the winter transfer window, according to The Times.

The news outlet reports (15 January) that the Hammers want to part ways with the Brazilian in the coming weeks after his £25.5million move from Palmeiras last summer.

Graham Potter has been promised funds to bolster the Irons’ attack, with the 18-year-old’s exit eyed to raise money for new additions already.

Luis Guilherme to leave West Ham United

Tim Steidten made several additions to the East London club’s squad in the previous transfer window, but Guilherme’s arrival was seemingly baffling.

While the forward showed immense potential at Palmeiras, the Hammers already had the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus in their ranks, who play in similar positions.

It’s no wonder that the Brazil Under-20 international has found game time hard to come by since his move to the London Stadium, making just five appearances in all competitions.

West Ham struggled under Julen Lopetegui, and the Spaniard hardly gave the 18-year-old opportunities as he looked for ways to get out of a lurch.

Potter is someone who is known to trust the youth, but the situation at the East London club is such at the moment that there isn’t a lot of move to manoeuvre.

The Hammers need to evidently bolster their front line after Michail Antonio was involved in a car accident and Niclas Fullkrug picked up another injury.

Danny Ings’s displays at the Irons have not convinced many, making the addition of another number nine arguably a priority in the winter window.

Guilherme’s exit will certainly boost the East London club’s coffers to pursue reinforcements.

In other West Ham news, Edson Alvarez is already on track to revive his career under Potter.
