West Ham United want to sign Steven Bergwijn this summer as Ajax demands emerge
West Ham United want to sign Steven Bergwijn from Ajax this summer after their asking price was revealed, according to Telegraaf.
Writing on their website (13 July), the Dutch news outlet report that the winger is wanted by Marseille and Saudi clubs too with Ajax hopeful of earning between €25-30m (£21.4-25.7m) from his transfer.
The Hammers are keen to bolster their attacking options this summer and the Netherlands international is a long-standing target.
West Ham United to sign Steven Bergwijn?
The attacking department at the London Stadium currently is looking rather bleak for the upcoming season, and additions are very much required.
Said Benrahma has joined Lyon permanently, while Michail Antonio is wanted in the MLS and by Saudi clubs [The Athletic, 15 May] as Danny Ings is wanted by Southampton [talkSPORT, 28 May] .
That leaves the starting three of Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Paqueta and Jarrod Bowen, plus Maxwel Cornet and new signing Luis Guilherme as the only options for Julen Lopetegui currently.

Bergwijn would offer great depth across the frontline having been able to play on the wings and centrally, while the fee isn’t crazy for a 26-year-old with Premier League and international experience.
It could represent some fantastic business for the Irons and really help a problem position, so Tim Steidten should use the relationship he has with Ajax and get this one done as quickly as possible.
In other West Ham news, Saudi clubs are “willing to do crazy things” to beat the Hammers to this transfer.
