West Ham United next manager: Julen Lopetegui holds talks with Bayern Munich over vacant role

Julen Lopetegui has held talks with Bayern Munich about their vacant manager’s role as well as West Ham, according to The Athletic.

Writing on their website (27 April), the news outlet report that the Spanish coach has also held talks with David Sullivan about replacing David Moyes this summer should the Scot leave at the end of his contract as expected.

The Hammers also face competition from AC Milan to appoint Lopetegui this summer, although there are several other candidates for the role also including Marco Silva and Paulo Fonseca.

West Ham United must act quickly or miss out on main man

While it may not be official yet, it seems pretty obvious that Moyes will be leaving the club this summer and that means the board need to be hard at work to replace him.

Talks are underway with several options according to reports, and while Chris Sutton believes that is “disrespectful”, they simply have to be alert to all the possibilities now.

The club will continue to operate once Moyes leaves and they must be as prepared as they can be for the new season, and that means having a replacement lined up as early as possible once a decision on Moyes has been made.

Clearly other clubs are in a similar situation this summer with Thomas Tuchel leaving Bayern Munich, Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool and AC Milan planning to sack Stefano Pioli.

So West Ham know they’re in a battle to get the best options to their club, and that means starting work early on getting their man whoever it is.
