Jhon Duran West Ham United transfer on the cards after what he did on social media
West Ham transfer target Jhon Duran has surely suggested that a move to the London Stadium is imminent with his latest actions on social media.
X user Muamar posted on the site having watched an Instagram Live video by the Aston Villa striker, who responded to a user’s question with a gesture that Irons fans the world over will recognise.
One user asked, “(are) you going Newcastle?”. Duran didn’t say anything, but crossed his arms across his chest – the universal Hammers symbol that suggests he’s heading there, rather than to Newcastle.
Those watching the Instagram Live video were quick to recognise exactly what this meant, with one replying “what’s up West Ham?” in Spanish as Duran laughed and moved the camera away from his face.
Jhon Duran transfer looks imminent after West Ham Instagram hint
Duran’s switch to the London Stadium is becoming one of the transfer sagas of the summer, as the Irons do all they can to barter a steadfast Aston Villa down from their £40million asking price [Evening Standard, 26 July].
Julen Lopetegui has cast his net wide across Europe in his hunt for a new centre-forward in East London, and has landed on Duran being his number-one target in a move which could transform the Irons’ attack.
The Hammers’ latest offer for the Colombian was reported to be around £32m plus youngster Lewis Orford being used as a makeweight [Fabrizio Romano, 25 July], but that’s yet to appease Villa.
Shelling out £40m on a striker who started just three Premier League matches last season – Duran was often used as an impact substitute at Villa Park – could, however, be seen as a huge risk for Lopetegui.
But if his actions on Instagram are to be believed, Duran is keen on the move to East London [Give Me Sport, 26 July], and with this transfer still having plenty of race left to run, all eyes are on the Hammers.
In other West Ham news, the Irons’ Women’s side will have to wait to reap the benefits of their latest high-profile signing.
