West Ham United fans have been left rightly fuming by what they’ve seen from Max Kilman.

The Englishman looked like an excellent addition at the time after a number of great seasons as Wolves captain.

His experience of the Premier League should have made him a success at the London Stadium, but things haven’t worked out that way.

He has proven to be one of the worst signings in the history of the Hammers as he continues to make costly errors in claret and blue.

Kilman faces an uncertain future at West Ham as we now assess what we know about his contract situation in East London.

What is Max Kilman’s contract situation at West Ham?

The 28-year-old has failed to land a concrete place in the starting XI in E20 and has bottled it when given the opportunity.

That has seen his appearance tally be limited since the introduction of Nuno Espirito Santo as a replacement for Graham Potter.

He hasn’t played a single Premier League game since January, and that looks unlikely to change between now and the end of the season.

His future will certainly be questioned when the campaign ends, but with his contract running until the summer of 2031, he is safe at the London Stadium right now.

There will be no rush from the centre-back to depart with his reported £100,000 weekly wage and yearly salary in the region of £5.2million.

Kilman has come under scrutiny at West Ham, and that is totally fair given how much the Hammers paid for him just two years ago.

Why did West Ham pay £40m for Kilman?

The Englishman did seem like a sure thing when he signed from Wolves, as his talents had been clear for all to see at Molineux.

There were even calls for him to be given an England call-up, such was his performance over six years with the Old Gold.

That call never came, and he eventually joined the Irons, but has ultimately proved shocking in claret and blue.

They are never going to get that fee back, even if they are to move him on in the summer.

He is likely to depart, if he does, for a nominal fee, as they just look to get him off the books rather than make money on his signature.
