Pundit reacts as Jim White drops £200m West Ham-Declan Rice reveal live on talkSPORT

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie holds no fears about West Ham losing Declan Rice after it was reported that it would take an offer of £200million to sign him this month.

Speaking on talkSPORT on 11 January, Jim White reported it was “made clear” to him that the Irons would require a nine-figure fee starting with a two in order to consider selling Rice.

It doesn’t seem as though there’s any serious interest in the 23-year-old England international this month but still, McAvennie is adamant he’s going nowhere despite White’s mega-millions update.

“Basically, every club has got a price but Declan’s happy there. You can tell he’s happy,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.

“West Ham are now giving him the challenge of getting into the Champions League and I’ve got a feeling, depending on the draw, they could get to the semi-finals of the Europa League.

“That’s wonderful.

“David Moyes has made the right team and picks a strong team to win matches with youngsters hanging around the bench.

“I just have nothing but respect for what David’s done at the club and you’ve got to say the owners as well because they couldn’t have done it if the owners were still on the manager’s back.”

Rice has been in stunning form yet again for the Hammers.

Moyes’ men are in the last-16 of the Europa League and, after beating Norwich 2-0 earlier this week, are fourth in the Premier League.

In other West Ham news, a player will tell he wants to quit after a bid was made by the Irons.
