Man United injury woes deepen ahead of West Ham game as Mazraoui update shared

Manchester United defender Noussair Mazraoui’s heart surgery means he could miss their contest with West Ham United in another boost for the Irons.

As reported in The Times [10 October], Mazraoui is set to miss the coming weeks as he undergoes a minor heart operation, after reportedly experiencing palpitations.

The surgical procedure will sideline the full-back for “a few weeks”, which likely includes the meeting between Man Utd and the Hammers at the London Stadium on 27 October.

The injury woes are deepening – particularly defensively – for Erik ten Hag’s side having lost Harry Maguire after his injury at Aston Villa on Sunday (6 October), for which he will be sidelined for “a few weeks” as claimed on the player’s Instagram [8 October].

Julen Lopetegui will already have one eye on the upcoming clash between and how he can exploit the Red Devils’ weaknesses when they make the trip south at the end of the month.

West Ham United ready to move through the gears

First and foremost, the progress and recovery of Mazraoui is paramount and best wishes have been passed to the player, who himself was heavily linked with a move to the Hammers before the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka opened the field for Man United.

In terms of Lopetegui’s perspective, the multiple defensive absences Ten Hag is having to deal with could play right into the Spaniard’s hands.

For the first time in quite a while in the win over Ipswich Town, West Ham looked ruthless and dominant in attack – albeit against a side finding their feet – but it was a gear up from much of what the team have delivered so far this term.

If the Irons can maintain that positive attacking form at home, they will certainly cause the Red Devils some serious problems at the back.

Mazraoui has been a rare bright spark for Ten Hag this season in what has been a very underwhelming start, which has put immense pressure on the Dutchman’s job security – and Lopetegui could be about to knock the nail in deeper should he still be in a job by the time this fixture comes around.
