West Ham signing Aaron Wan-Bissaka is set to hand Manchester United a "golden ticket", according to Manchester Evening News.

The newspaper reported via its website [11 August] that Wan-Bissaka's exit will allow the Red Devils to sign Bayern Munich's Noussair Mazraoui.

The Hammers are set to pay £15million for the 26-year-old, though the player is still finalising his exit terms with United, with his 4:00pm medical now delayed [Dharmesh Sheth].

West Ham United close in on deal for Aaron Wan-Bissaka

All parties are set to benefit from Wan-Bissaka's move to the London Stadium, but Julen Lopetegui's main focus will be on the important addition to his squad this summer.

While Vladimir Coufal has been a mainstay in the starting XI over the last few seasons, starting 36 Premier League matches last term, lack of depth has regularly been a concern.

With Ben Johnson moving on to newly promoted Ipswich Town, Lopetegui has very few options at right-back, which is a similar theme on the opposite flank, with Aaron Creswell the only backup to Emerson.

And although Wan-Bissaka has made nearly 200 appearances at Old Trafford since arriving from Crystal Palace, his time in Manchester has not always been smooth sailing.

The 26-year-old has often been overlooked, especially since Erik ten Hag's appointment, with the defender never reaching more than 20 league appearances in the last three campaigns.

While Wan-Bissaka is not as attacking as the current full-backs at Lopetegui's disposal, he is certainly more defensively sound, and that is a rather important aspect of the transfer.

West Ham's defence was regularly slated last season under David Moyes, and the new manager will be keen for the Hammers to avoid a similar trend.
