Gianluca Scamacca makes ‘semi-promise’ to AS Roma amid West Ham United exit talks
Gianluca Scamacca has made AS Roma a “semi-promise” about joining them this summer and is awaiting them to make an offer to West Ham, says Alfredo Pedulla.
The Italian striker signed in a £35m deal last summer but struggled with injuries and form during his maiden campaign in England, and is reportedly open to returning to his homeland after just one season.
Roma want to sign him and have already held talks with the Hammers, but amid interest from AC Milan too, Scamacca has promised Roma that he will wait for them to get a deal done.

“Gianluca Scamacca has made a semi-promise to Roma and is waiting for the Giallorossi club to enter into full swing with West Ham after the contacts of the last few weeks,” he wrote (4 July).
Inevitable
When Scamacca joined the club there was great excitement and hope that the club had finally managed to solve the striker issues that have plagued us for a long time.
He came with great potential after a solid scoring season in Serie A and started his West Ham career well with six goals in his first 12 games.

But he struggled after that and with David Moyes playing a totally different style of football to what suits him, an exit was mooted for most of 2023 up to this point.
Roma have been linked with a loan-to-buy move as well as a permanent move for Scamacca, but the Hammers are in a position of strength when it comes to negotiating considering there is no need for cash and the fact he has a lot of time remaining on his contract.
It seems as though the player has made up his mind though, and an exit now surely looks more likely than unlikely at this stage of play.
In other West Ham news, the club want to sign a new left-back with some Premier League rivals ready to open talks.
