Amanda Stavely has been linked with a West Ham United takeover for years.

After ending her involvement with PIF and Newcastle United, Staveley has made her interest in a return to football no secret.

West Ham are an interesting proposition for that.

After relegation to the Championship, the London Stadium boardroom has been a complete mess.

Karren Brady and Tara Warren both left during last season, with David Sullivan also vacating his role to fight historic allegations against him.

That has opened the door to Staveley and her husband, Mehrdad Ghodoussi.

Takeover movement at London Stadium?

West Ham fans have been waiting for these moments for years now.

Daniel Kretinsky is the major shareholder representative on the board now, with Vanessa Gold also involved.

Sullivan remains invested through his shares, so any takeover, if full control, would need to involve him.

That's where things get interesting, with Staveley and Ghodoussi spotted at the London Stadium on Friday evening.

The Sun has reported that the pair were personal guests of the venue, as Take That performed in the capital.

Sitting in the director's box, it appeared to have no relevance to any possible takeover in the near future.

Why West Ham fit the bill as 'distressed asset' amid Amanda Staveley takeover talks

What has Amanda Staveley said about West Ham takeover?

After moving on from Newcastle, the door remained open in England.

Staveley played a huge role in getting PIF into the Premier League at St James' Park, although it's not been plain sailing.

West Ham are now a unique opportunity, with relegation to the Championship possibly representing a cheaper price.

With huge changes at boardroom level too, that chaos could be taken advantage of in the market.

When asked about a future takeover of West Ham, Staveley said: “Maybe, you don’t know.

“We’ve looked at a lot of clubs, including Tottenham, but we are looking at clubs around the Premier League and the UK, Europe.

“We really want to be buying, going in and investing into a club again very soon."

Tottenham are fairly set on their board and ownership with the Lewis family, so West Ham are the clear answer.

Would now be the right time for it, though?

West Ham must put everything they have into earning promotion to the Premier League at the first time of asking.

Player sales are needed, new transfers to follow, and that's before sorting the mess in the boardroom.

A takeover bubbling in the background for months would only add to that uncertainty right now.
