Mauricio Pochettino is a big fan of Yunus Musah, who has been linked with a move to West Ham United this summer.

Achieving Premier League survival is the main aim for the Hammers as of right now, but plans will already be slowly put into place ahead of the summer.

Regardless of the decision in which they find themselves, West Ham need a big recruitment push, with a clear focus on improving their midfield options.

West Ham have often lacked the bite and energy in midfield, which has led them to be linked with several options already.

Musah has been mooted for a move to the London Stadium, and he has already made an impression on Pochettino on the international stage.

What did Mauricio Pochettino say about Yunus Musah?

Musah is certainly most known for his time with AC Milan, where he made 83 appearances before joining Atalanta on loan.

However, the 23-year-old has also made an impression for the USMNT, which is where Pochettino crossed paths with him.

In fact, Musah was on the score sheet for his country in Pochettino’s first game in charge, which led to the former Tottenham manager heaping praise on him.

Back in 2024, he said: “Fantastic for him, fantastic for the team.

“And now maybe he will start to behave in a different way, where he can be full of confidence. That’s the important thing in our decision, to try to help him.”

What would Musah bring to West Ham?

More than anything, energy, and plenty of it.

Musah has completed 70.6 per cent of his attempted dribbles in the Serie A this season, showcasing his willingness to drive forward with the ball.

Mateus Fernandes aside, West Ham have often lacked that kind of profile, and having someone to take the pressure off him to do that will only aid their ability in transition.

With an average of 6.89 duels won per game, Musah also ranks among the top 5.8 per cent of midfielders in Italy.

Despite his age, Musah also boasts a wealth of experience at the highest level, which would be yet another positive to add to the squad for the Hammers.
