Isak Hien transfer on the cards as West Ham centre-back sales lined up

Isak Hien could be on West Ham United‘s radar once again this summer, with the need for centre-backs more clear than ever.

The defender plays for Atalanta in the Serie A and was linked with a move to the London Stadium in the winter window.

A transfer didn’t materialise, as the Hammers went and signed Axel Disasi on loan from Chelsea instead, who has been a revelation.

But there is no certainty over Disasi’s extended stay in E20, with speculation also mounting over permanent exits for Konstantinos Mavropanos and Max Kilman.

Mavropanos is reportedly “set to leave” the Irons in search of a new challenge this summer, while David Sullivan will want to finally get rid of Kilman, who has been a waste of £40million.

West Ham will need to sign a centre-back this summer, and Hien should be at the top of their list.

Isak Hien could be available for cheap this summer

Mavropanos is said to open to joining Borussia Dortmund this summer, and has already had a move pitched to him by the German giants.

What happens next with Kilman is a mystery at this point, but the general consensus is that an E20 exit is needed.

Hien, on the other hand, could be open to joining the Hammers, who have been tracking the Swede since late 2023.

He hasn’t played since Sweden’s World Cup qualification win over Ukraine in March, and his injury could keep him out for the rest of the season.

With that being said, Atalanta could be open to selling the 27-year-old this summer, with West Ham really looking like they will need a new centre-half or two.

How much could West Ham get for Kilman?

West Ham’s accounts for the 2024-25 season showed more concerning signs, as Sullivan has received pelters for poor use of finances.

One example of this was the £40m decision to sign Kilman on a long-term deal, who may not even go for half that price now.

Based on his performances in the last two seasons, the Hammers would be lucky to get £10m for the former Wolves captain, but any money could be useful to bring in new faces.
