Konstantinos Mavropanos ‘won over’ by Borussia Dortmund pitch as West Ham exit nears

Konstantinos Mavropanos is reportedly interested in making the switch to Borussia Dortmund this summer, with his West Ham United exit likely.

It has been reported in recent days that the centre-back is set to leave the London Stadium this summer, regardless of whether the club stay in the Premier League or not.

The news has come at a time when the 28-year-old has found arguably his best run of form during his time with the Hammers, as he could now leave a hero.

The Irons signed the Greek star from Bundesliga side VfB Stuttgart back in 2023, and it seems like he could be headed for a return to Germany, with Dortmund keen.

Mavropanos seems impressed by Borussia Dortmund‘s transfer pitch, and is growing closer to a West Ham exit.

Konstantinos Mavropanos wants a Bundesliga return

Dortmund have already been credited with interest in Mavropanos over the last few days, straight after the news that the defender is likely to leave the Hammers this summer.

The arrival of Axel Disasi seems to have gotten the best out of Mavropanos, but new developments suggest the Irons could have a new-look defence next season.

As seen in the table above, Mavropanos would be a solid target for any European side to have their eyes on, as Dortmund seemed to have already progressed with the player.

According to French journalist Sebastien Vidal on X, the West Ham centre-half has been “won over” by Dortmund’s pitch and project.

The German outfit competed in the UEFA Champions League this season, and sitting second in the Bundesliga suggests they will qualify for the competition once more for the next campaign.

No talks have taken place between the Hammers and Dortmund, but the German giants are aware that they will need to meet David Sullivan’s expectations of a fee to sell Mavropanos.

Could Mavropanos exit affect Axel Disasi return?

West Ham have seen the best of Mavropanos in recent weeks, as some believe that all he’s missed while being at the London Stadium is a solid partner next to him.

He’s now got that with Disasi, and it would be a crying shame if the defensive duo don’t star together in E20 once more next season.

The Chelsea loanee is a big fan of his defensive team-mate, and would most likely jump at the chance for a permanent West Ham stay with the Greek man next to him.

However, with Mavropanos now likely to leave, that could throw Disasi’s potential stay in doubt.
