Crysencio Summerville left to rue West Ham contract agreement after announcement
Crysencio Summerville may now rue the day he agreed to join West Ham United.
The attacking midfielder has been one of the best players at the London Stadium recently, despite the sour taste of relegation.
His form in 2026 wasn’t enough to carry the claret and blue outfit away from the drop zone as injuries once again took their toll on his E20 spell.
That has been enough to catch the eye of interested parties from a number of leagues, with a summer deal potentially on the cards.
Summerville could see a West Ham exit become more likely after taking part in the World Cup, but it may not be possible based on his contract situation.

Crysencio Summerville earns World Cup call-up
There have been several flashes of brilliance from the 24-year-old since he completed a big-money move from Leeds United in 2024.
His goal output has been much improved in the season just gone, so it is a shame that it has ended with a drop into the Championship.
| Season | Appearances | Goals | Assists |
| 2025/26 | 34 | 7 | 3 |
| 2024/25 | 22 | 1 | 2 |
His 10 goal involvements in all competitions were nearly enough to help the Hammers avoid relegation, and also pushed his side to within touching distance of an FA Cup semi-final.
That hasn’t gone unnoticed on the international stage, with Ronald Koeman rewarding him with a place in the Netherlands’ World Cup squad.
That is no mean feat, but there is also every chance that he features at the showpiece tournament based on the other options around him.
A place in the squad travelling to North America looks like the perfect opportunity to put himself in the shop window and showcase exactly what he can do.
Summerville could use that to force a move away from West Ham, but that certainly won’t be easy due to the contract he signed two years ago.
Summerville has no relegation release clause at West Ham
It feels likely that the Dutchman will want to move on from the London Stadium now that relegation has been confirmed.
No one could truly blame him for that, especially now that he’s off to the World Cup.
His problem will be that the Irons hold all the cards in any sort of negotiations that go on throughout the summer transfer window.
After signing in 2024, his contract is still in place until the summer of 2029 with an option to extend that to 2030, which plays into the Hammers’ hands.
West Ham United is delighted to announce the signing of Netherlands U21 international winger Crysencio Summerville.

The 22-year-old joins the Hammers from EFL Championship club Leeds United on a five-year deal with a one-year option for an undisclosed fee.
That is only helped by the lack of a relegation release clause in E20, which will allow West Ham to set whatever price tag they like for Summerville.
They could price any interested parties out of a move and almost force the attacker to line up in the Championship next campaign.
That could leave the Netherlands international to rue the day he penned his contract at the London Stadium without considering the future.
