Nuno Espirito Santo certainty emerges as West Ham future comes under spotlight
Nuno Espirito Santo‘s future at West Ham United is not entirely clear as Premier League relegation remains a possibility.
West Ham have definitely showed signs of improvement since Nuno replaced Graham Potter in September.
However, the Hammers are just two points clear of Tottenham in the final relegation spot with four matches to go.
Relegation would prove a financial disaster for West Ham, with pretty much the entire squad – and manager Nuno – being on Premier League salaries.
Ahead of the final run-in, an update has now emerged on Nuno’s future at the London Stadium beyond this season.

Alex Crook shares update on Nuno Espirito Santo’s West Ham future
West Ham are predicted to finish above Tottenham and survive this season, which would mean job done as far as Nuno is concerned.
The Portuguese was hired to keep the Hammers in the Premier League before then hopefully pushing on next season.
| Opta supercomputer latest prediction (25 April) | West Ham | Tottenham |
| Expected position | 17th | 18th |
| Expected points | 40.08 | 38.55 |
| Relegation chance (per cent) | 36.84 | 60.22 |
It has been tough viewing at times, but Nuno will deserve credit if he does manage to finish in 17th or higher.
However, should the unthinkable happen and West Ham drop into the Championship, serious conversations will need to be held.
In an update for talkSPORT on Tuesday, Alex Crook reported as much.

“If they go down, there certainly will be conversations,” he said. “Because the board will feel he’s had a majority of the season to save them so it’s not certain he will stay if they go down. If they do stay up, I think he will be fine.”
That pretty much confirms what supporters would have already expected. David Sullivan will clearly hold off on those talks one way or another until West Ham’s fate is known.
How does Nuno’s record compare with West Ham predecessors?
Nuno has won 11 of his 33 matches as West Ham manager, most recently seeing off Everton, while drawing nine and losing 13 of those.
That gives the 52-year-old a win percentage of 33.33 per cent, which is a lot better than Potter’s 24 per cent before him.
Julen Lopetegui, meanwhile, had a 31.82 per cent win rate and David Moyes 45.45 per cent across his two spells combined.

Moyes is out on top, then, which again is no surprise, but hopefully Nuno can improve his own record between now and the end of the campaign.
If not, that could mean relegation and, in the worst-case scenario, Nuno being out of a job come this time next month.
