West Ham: Liam Rosenior sack at Chelsea is timely decision amid relegation battle
West Ham United will be watching closely at the situation unfolding at Stamford Bridge with Liam Rosenior officially sacked by Chelsea.
While Chelsea are not fighting at the bottom of the table, the Blues could yet have a big say in the relegation fight.
The decision to remove Rosenior from his position could now ultimately change the course of the relegation battle.
The Hammers will no doubt take notice, as Chelsea could now hand them an advantage in the fight to remain in the top flight.
As the season comes to an end, West Ham’s run-in may have just received another layer of excitement away from London Stadium.

Why Liam Rosenior’s sack could be positive for West Ham
Chelsea have been in utterly terrible form, losing each of their last five Premier League matches and failing to score in each and every single loss.
The Blues could not buy a win, and ultimately, that has cost Rosenior his job at Stamford Bridge.
| Chelsea in last five Premier League games | Total |
| Losses | 5 |
| Goals scored | 0 |
| Goals conceded | 11 |
However, for West Ham, they may be viewing the decision as one that could have a positive knock-on effect for the Irons.
Amid the relegation battle, Chelsea still have to play both Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur, who are both still in the midst of the bottom of the table.
The decision to sack Rosenior could see the “new manager bounce” come into affect as Calum McFarlane takes over until the end of the season.
McFarlane proved his credentials as he pushed Manchester City to the wire in his first professional match in charge when he took over after Enzo Maresca left Chelsea.
As the season begins to wind down, the Hammers will certainly be hoping the change of manager is successful in the short term, as it would boost their survival chances this season.
Especially with the supercomputer increasing West Ham’s chances of staying up.
West Ham’s destiny is in their own hands
While decisions elsewhere could impact West Ham, as it stands, the Hammers can decide their own future. Unlike Tottenham, they do not need to rely on outside forces to stay in the Premier League.
If the Irons can win their remaining five matches, they will remain in the top flight with Spurs unable to catch them, even if they follow suit.
Nuno Espirito Santo has been good at batting away outside noise over the last month, constantly bringing up that he is only focusing on his own team.

That is the right mindset to go about things, and hopefully the Portuguese manager gets that instilled into his players’ heads.
However, he certainly will accept outside help if it arrives anyway, even if from London rivals Chelsea.
