Nuno Espirito Santo must find solution to Daniel Farke puzzle ahead of West Ham vs Leeds
Nuno Espirito Santo will have to nip a growing trend against Daniel Farke’s Leeds United if he wants to keep West Ham United in the Premier League.
The Irons D-Day is quickly approaching, and unlike Tottenham, they do not have their own future in their hands.
It is a nerve-wracking situation to be in, with hopes falling onto Everton to defeat the Lilywhites on the last day of the season.
Former Hammers boss David Moyes has given hope to that possibility, suggesting he would love to see West Ham stay up.
However, ahead of West Ham versus Leeds, any favours from Everton would be in vain if Nuno cannot get over a recent hump he has had with Farke’s side.

What is Nuno Espirito Santo’s record against Daniel Farke?
Nuno actually has quite a decent history against Farke, having not lost in the first four games in which he competed against him.
However, you are only as good as your last game, and in recent history, the tables have begun to swing.
| West Ham’s last five games against Leeds United | Total |
| Wins | 1 |
| Draws | 1 |
| Losses | 3 |
The Leeds United boss has managed to bring in excellent results against the Irons, beating them in the last two games across all competitions.
Of course, one of those showdowns was the dramatic 2-2 draw at London Stadium in the FA Cup, when West Ham narrowly missed out on a semi-final due to a penalty shoot-out.
But ahead of this weekend, Nuno must find a way to revert to those opening four fixtures. Over those matches, the Portuguese manager had an aggregate score of 9-3.
The games were contested by Nuno’s Wolves side and Farke’s Norwich at the time.

Meanwhile, West Ham’s final-day record is something the Portuguese manager must also overcome.
Who is winning the West Ham vs Leeds United head-to-head?
While the Nuno trend is worrying heading into Sunday’s game, the historical record is also not kind viewing either.
In 113 games throughout the entire history of the English football pyramid, it is the visitors that hold quite the lead.
Leeds United have won 51 of the meetings, with West Ham only securing victory in 32 of those matches. The other 30 were a stalemate between the two.
It means that the E20 outfit has just a 28 per cent win rate against the Elland Road side.

So, the precedents are certainly not an optimistic outlook, but that does not mean the Irons cannot have hope.
Everton’s away form is excellent, while Tottenham’s home form is poor this season. There is every chance the Toffees secure a win.
The Irons just need to get their side of the bargain completed. It would not be the first time the Hammers have overcome the odds.
