Lucas Paqueta’s top three Premier League moments after reaching West Ham milestone
Lucas Paqueta will know things need to get better at West Ham.
After featuring in West Ham’s defeat to Brentford, Paqueta is currently playing in possibly the poorest Hammers side since his arrival.
Nuno Espirito Santo knows how important Paqueta is to West Ham, and the Brazilian is going to be key in turning things around at the London Stadium.
After playing against Brentford, Paqueta reached 100 Premier League appearances for the Hammers, making him only the 30th Brazilian to ever do so in the competition.
Despite the hard times he and Hammers fans currently face, West Ham Zone takes a look at Paqueta’s top three moments while in East London.
First Premier League goal for West Ham
Despite the obvious Europa Conference League glory with West Ham, Paqueta has still had sensational moments in the Premier League.
West Ham arrived at West Ham back in the 2022-23 season, as he had to wait until February of 2023 to score a goal.
Paqueta notched his first Premier League goal against Newcastle at St. James Park, which helped the Hammers to a point at the time.
Although the goal was a little bit scrappy, the first one is always the best one, and it’s a moment that Paqueta and West Ham fans will never forget.
Paqueta’s best Premier League performance
West Ham beat Leeds United at the end of their 2022-23 campaign with a 3-2 win on 21 May.
Paqueta didn’t score in this game, but his sheer individual quality was the real highlight of his performance.
Paqueta vs Leeds in 2023 3-2 win:
- Paqueta created four big chances
- He made three key passes
- Totalled a staggering five dribbles
- Grabbed one assist
He was untouchable in this game, and it was easily the best Premier League performance he’s ever had at West Ham.
Paqueta provided the final assist of the game after he danced through the Whites’ defence, showing off his Brazilian samba, before putting the ball on a plate for Manuel Lanzini to tuck home.
But there’s still one more moment that could end up being iconic, especially if things get better soon at the London Stadium.
‘That’ celebration vs Nottingham Forest
Paqueta was linked to Aston Villa in the summer, and at one point, it seemed like a deal would be done.
West Ham’s first win of the season came in a 3-0 away victory against Nottingham Forest, where, at the time, it seemed like the game might have been Paqueta’s curtain-falling match as a Hammers player.
The win was emotional, a long-awaited first win of the season, with Paqueta scoring, and gesturing that he was staying at West Ham.
Paqueta holds the keys for West Ham and has individually had a good goal-scoring start to the season.
The season is far from over, and with Paqueta still at the club, he could be the player to turn things around, alongside Jarrod Bowen.
