Lucas Paqueta is one of West Ham's longest-serving players at the moment.

Paqueta joined West Ham from Lyon in 2022, and he has had mixed fortunes in East London since he made the move.

Paqueta could have joined Manchester City in an £80million deal in 2023, but an FA investigation into alleged betting offences scuppered that deal.

Now, he is set to make history in West Ham's clash with Brentford on 20 October.

Lucas Paqueta set to make 100th Premier League appearance

Paqueta has constantly been linked with a West Ham exit, but he has remained at the London Stadium despite that speculation.

Paqueta is now set to make his 100th Premier League appearance, becoming the 30th Brazilian player to reach that milestone in the competition.

If he plays against the Bees, he will join an elite club of players from his country to achieve the title of centurion.

West Ham need Paqueta to step up

Now that the FA investigation is over, and he was found innocent, Paqueta needs to put the strain that it has caused behind him and kick on.

The Hammers need somebody to step up and kickstart their season, and the 27-year-old can be the man for the job.

  • Paqueta has featured seven times in the top-flight this season
  • He has notched two goals, one against Chelsea and one against Nottingham Forest
  • The Irons need him to contribute more

On his day, Paqueta is one of the most dangerous players in the division, with lethal creativity and capable of scoring stunning goals from range.

Nuno Espirito Santo needs him to show it more often, and stand up and be counted, now that he is one of the most experienced members of the squad.

He will become part of a historic club if he plays on Monday, but it would mean much more if he could help fire the Hammers to safety.

He has a total of 21 goals and 14 assists in 128 games for the club, and he needs to expand that record if he is to help keep them in the division.
