West Ham United optimistic of double deal for Piotr Zieliński and Filip Kostic

West Ham United remain “pretty optimistic” about completing transfers for Piotr Zielinski and Filip Kostic according to former Eurosport journalist Dean Jones.

ExWHUemployee revealed on Saturday 30 July that the club are considering making another bid for 29-year-old wing-back Kostic, even though there are questions over whether he would want to move to the London Stadium.

It’s also understood that West Ham are planning a new and improved bid for Zielinski with Napoli potentially inclined to sell the 28-year-old Polish international.

Jones has suggested that although no deals have been finalised as of yet, the club remain confident of bringing both players to the club.

He told GIVEMESPORT on Saturday 30 July: “[They’re] pretty optimistic about Zielinski and Kostic and the way that talks have gone so far.

“They think that if they can get these players through the door, then they’ve had a very positive summer.”

Do the Hammers need both?

Do West Ham really need both players to come through the door at the London Stadium this summer?

Filip Kostic would be the priority out of the pair, with David Moyes looking to sure up his left-back slot this summer.

Kostic’s arrival would also allow for the West Ham boss to be diverse in terms of the formations he chooses to utilise this season.

The Serbian has proven himself to be one of the most effective wing-backs in Europe over the past couple of seasons and could supply the Hammers attacking players with no end of chances.

Zielinski is a slightly odd move for the Hammers to be looking into with other areas of their squad surely a priority.

Moyes has a good number of options in attacking midfield at present and could be better off looking into a move for another central midfielder or a centre-half to cover Nayef Aguerd’s injury.

Regardless of their future business, it has been an excellent window so far for the Hammers, with any further additions a bonus for the London Stadium faithful.
