West Ham United new signing update drops ahead of Kurt Zouma transfer announcement
West Ham United completing a new transfer before the deadline is “50/50” ahead of the impending exit of Kurt Zouma, according to Sean Whetstone.
Reporting via his West Ham Football X account (29 August) Whetstone claimed that despite Zouma’s imminent exit, further arrivals are still dependent on more exits.
The deal is set to be a season-long loan with the Hammers covering a portion of his wages for the duration, with finer details being resolved currently.
West Ham need to find more destinations for their unwanted players
Despite undergoing something of a rebuild across the summer transfer window, Julen Lopetegui still has many players within his ranks that he could do with offloading.
One of the key areas that Lopetegui has focused on throughout the transfer window is that of his attack.
The likes of former Leeds United ace Crysencio Summerville and German star Niclas Fullkrug have both already been welcomed to the London Stadium as attacking reinforcement.
This has left West Ham with players such as Danny Ings [Darren Witcoop, 26 August] still on their books despite having no need for them.
And, although there have been plenty of attempts from the Hammers to offload some of these players, none seem willing to move.
This has left Lopetegui in something of a pickle as, despite knowing his team needs further improvement to become even more competitive, the Spaniard can’t do anything transfer-wise until further exits are sanctioned.
With less than 48 hours left until the deadline, it’s becoming increasingly unlikely that players such as Carlos Soler [Sean Whetstone, 26 August] will be welcomed at the London Stadium despite some terms already being agreed.
