West Ham United defender Nayef Aguerd is not keen on a last-minute transfer to Wolves, according to Santi Aouna.

The Foot Mercato journalist reported via X on Thursday (29 August) that while Gary O'Neil's side are interested in securing the Moroccan international's signature, "he will not sign" on at Molineux this summer.

Reports emerged from Guardian journalist Jacob Steinberg (29 August) that the Irons Premier League rivals were interested in striking a loan deal for Aguerd before the window closes on Friday 30 August.

Wolves aren't the only side interested in signing the Hammers man, with Real Sociedad, Villarreal and Al-Ittihad all also in the running [Santi Aouna, 29 August].

Will Nayef Aguerd exit West Ham amid Wolves transfer rumours?

The Hammers may have made it clear to Aguerd that he isn't part of Julen Lopetegui's plans at the London Stadium, but they cannot force the Moroccan international to join a club that he isn't interested in.

Aguerd will likely view a loan switch to Molineux as a sideways move and while he would be guaranteed more regular first-team football, he wouldn't have found a long-term solution to end his time at West Ham.

On the face of it, a move to either play in La Liga with one of Real Sociedad or Villareal or the riches of the Saudi Pro League does feel like it would be much more appealing than spending the season scrapping at the foot of the table with Wolves.

Ultimately, it is down to the Hammers to try and agree on a deal sooner rather than later to finally get the defender off of their wage bill before the summer transfer window slams shut on Friday.

Hopefully, a solution can be found before 11pm on the 30 August so that Lopetegui doesn't get lumbered with Aguerd for another few months at least.
