West Ham United hold talks to sign Dominic Solanke as £45m price tag emerges

West Ham United have held talks about signing Dominic Solanke from Bournemouth this summer, with the club prepared to pay him £115k p/w according to Football Transfers.

Writing on their website (8 March), the Hammers have moved to get a headstart in the race for the striker’s signature and recently held talks with members of his entourage and family about a summer transfer.

And West Ham are ready to offer him a bumper pay-rise alongside giving Bournemouth a £45m fee, which the Cherries may consider as too good to turn down to get the deal done.

West Ham and Dominic Solanke could be a perfect match

There’s no doubting that the Hammers are in desperate need of a new striker for the 2024/25 season, because the squad is in dire need of a reliable goalscorer.

Michail Antonio is ageing and past his best, while Danny Ings has never been able to make an impact at the London Stadium since he joined the club.

So much so that Moyes has opted to use Jarrod Bowen as the central striker this season for the most part, with the natural winger producing a great return in goals while being supported by Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus.

But by adding Solanke to the squad it would allow a more traditional approach to the game, and he is a striker who could play in a number of systems which means it wouldn’t matter too much if David Moyes ended up leaving the club.

At £45m it would be a solid signing with a relatively moderate wage in today’s game, especially considering they were reportedly quoted £50m+ initially, and he would solve a big issue in the squad. It almost sounds too good to be true.
