West Ham make Diego Gomez transfer approach as £20m Brighton update emerges
West Ham United have enquired about signing Inter Miami midfielder Diego Gomez, according to Give Me Sport.
The news outlet reported online (27 June) that Brighton have already made a bid for the 21-year-old, who is keen on a move to the Hammers’ Premier League rivals.
However, the Seagulls’ offer for Gomez has fallen significantly short of Inter Miami’s expectations.
The MLS side, owned by David Beckham, wants £20million for Gomez.
Can West Ham United beat Brighton to the signing of Diego Gomez?
Gomez is still only 21 years old and has impressed this season in the MLS, where he is playing alongside Lionel Messi.
He would certainly be an exciting signing at the London Stadium, and someone who has room to grow and develop under Julen Lopetegui.
However, it won’t be an easy deal for West Ham to get across the line as a result of Brighton’s interest.
The Amex Stadium has proven to be a positive stepping stone for young players in recent seasons, with the Seagulls often allowing talented players to make a name for themselves with the club.
It is therefore no surprise that Gomez is interested in a move to Brighton, and Lopetegui’s side will have to act fast if they want to sign the player.

It appears as if negotiations between Brighton and Inter Miami aren’t yet at an advanced stage, and now is therefore the time for the Hammers to make their move for Gomez.
In other West Ham news, the club are set to sign a Manchester City attacking starlet.
