Tim Steidten submits multi-million Luis Guilherme bid as West Ham United bonuses offered

West Ham United have launched a bid worth up to £25m for Brazilian teen sensation Luis Guilherme, according to HITC.

As reported by Shaun Webbley [31 May], Tim Steidten – who is currently in Brazil in an attempt to persuade Fabricio Bruno to overcome his family concerns to move to England – has tabled an offer to Palmeiras for the 18-year-old.

The Hammers are going all-out to rebuild their squad as the Julen Lopetegui era begins at the London Stadium, as Steidten’s trip to South America also involves a potential battle with top European clubs for Corinthians forward Wesley Gassova [Fabrizio Romano].

The HITC report reads: “West Ham are trying to pull off a major coup this summer with HITC understanding that they are attempting to land Palmeiras star Luis Guilherme.

“It is our understanding that [the club] are working hard in Brazil to pull off some key transfers but have, as of yet, failed to pull off any deal so far.

“HITC can confirm that West Ham’s technical director Tim Steidten has now made an ambitious move for Guilherme. Former Brazilian defender Naldo, who is one of Steidten’s most trusted intermediaries, is understood to be working hard on the deal.”

West Ham United exploring the Brazilian market

Steidten’s front-and-centre involvement on transfers is a new approach from West Ham, with Lopetegui installed as a head coach rather than the more authoritative managerial mould of David Moyes.

The Hammers’ technical director’s contact book is extensive, illustrated by the workings of Naldo as an intermediary in Brazil.

As the HITC report points out, Palmeiras are among the nation’s clubs with plenty of exciting assets including Real Madrid signing Endrick, and Chelsea target Willian Estevao.

Aside from the success stories of the likes of Neymar and Vinicius Junior – along with hundreds more of a lower profile – European moves for young Brazilian talents are often life-changing, and clubs recoup huge fees for the players they have brought through.
