West Ham United are set to announce Julen Lopetegui as the club's new head coach once the current season ends, according to The Athletic.
Roashane Thomas has reported (17 May) that the Spaniard will be the first man in the Hammers' history not to have the title of "manager".
Lopetegui is said to have been on West Ham's radar for over eight months with Tim Steidten looking for someone who has "less influence over transfers".
The technical director is looking to have "full control" over transfers and that is what his new head coach will allow.

With Steidten set to be in complete control of the ins and outs at the London Stadium, there could be a change in tact.
It must be said that it was the German who convinced Mohammed Kudus to move to East London so more signings like that will certainly go down well.
He will have various different positions that he needs to bring in cover for at West Ham, which he should focus on in the summer transfer window.
A new back-up goalkeeper may be considered with Lukasz Fabianski not getting any younger.
With suggestions that Nayef Aguerd [Hakim Zhouri] and Ben Johnson [TEAMtalk] could be set to depart the club, new defensive options will be necessary.
Michail Antonio is still the main striker option at West Ham and another forward to give him some competition could be helpful, if indeed he does not himself depart.
A major overhaul isn't necessary this summer but Steidten still has a big few months on his hands, especially with a new man in charge.
