Nottingham Forest in talks to sign Xande Silva from West Ham
Nottingham Forest are in talks to sign West Ham forward Xande Silva, according to Football League World.
The news outlet reports that the Championship club has made a late move to sign the 24-year-old Portuguese on a permanent basis on deadline day.
Silva joined West Ham three years ago and he’s since made just two senior appearances.
Silva has had a tough time at West Ham despite such an impressive start.
After joining from Portuguese club Vitoria in 2018, Silva went into the Hammers’ Under-23s squad and scored a hat-trick against Tottenham on his Premier League 2 debut.
He followed that up with Premier League 2 goals against Manchester City and Arsenal before breaking into the senior squad and getting some game-time in the Premier League and FA Cup.
However, Silva had to undergo emergency bowel surgery the following summer and hasn’t been seen in our first-team squad since.
Last season, he was on loan at Aris in Greece.
He didn’t have the worst time there, scoring four goals in 33 appearances across all competitions. But it’s clear that at 24, if he cannot do that well in Greece, he’ll never be able to perform in England’s top-flight.
We wish Xande the best for wherever he heads to next.
