West Ham in talks with agent of Lille forward Jonathan Bamba - ExWHUemployee
West Ham are in talks to seal a deadline day swoop to sign Jonathan Bamba from Lille, according to ExWHUemployee.
The reliable Hammers insider has reported via his Patreon page that the Irons are in discussions with the 25-year-old forward’s agent ahead of the transfer deadline at 11pm tonight.
Nikola Vlasic became West Ham’s first attacking addition earlier on deadline day but it seems David Moyes is out for more depth up top.
“We are also in talks with a forward at the moment,” said ExWHUemployee.
“Jonathan Bamba is a player I have covered extensively recently on the podcast and it appears discussions are going on with his agents as we speak.”
Not a striker
Bamba is a very good forward player.
Last season, the Frenchman played a major role for Lille as they won the Ligue 1 title. He scored seven goals and supplied 11 assists in 48 appearances across all competitions.
However, almost all of Bamba’s appearances were out wide on the left.
While we’d like to see West Ham add strength in depth in their attacking positions, we’d rather see Moyes go and sign an out-and-out centre-forward.
Michail Antonio has been amazing, scoring and assisting in each of his first three Premier League appearances this season.
However, we all know what he’s like when it comes to injuries and who plays up front when he’s out?
West Ham play a lot of games this season due to the Europa League and we’re worried that Antonio won’t be able to cope with the rigours of playing Thursday and Sunday matches every week.
Bamba would be a good signing but he’s still not the signing we need.
In other West Ham news, the Irons are in pursuit of signing this Erling Haaland-esque centre-forward.
