Leicester ‘brace for approach’ as West Ham ready Hermansen transfer at London Stadium

West Ham are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping department this summer.

Graham Potter is believed to be keen to replace Alphonse Areola as his number one for this upcoming season, with Lukasz Fabianski already leaving.

In terms of signings so far, the Hammers have struggled this summer, but given the injection of cash from Mohammed Kudus’ £55million sale, that could all change.

Leicester City goalkeeper Mads Hermansen has now been lined up for a West Ham move.

West Ham to approach Leicester for Hermansen

There have been reports that Hermansen could cost West Ham £35million as the Irons look to strengthen in between the sticks.

Leicester are understandably unwilling to let go of their Danish keeper, but given their relegation, along with questions surrounding their finances, the Foxes could be willing to sell.

According to Alex Crook on X (21 July), Leicester are now braced for an approach for their keeper from the Hammers.

The Dane is described as one of their few sellable assets, with Leicester having held talks with former Everton goalkeeper Asmir Begovic.

While Hermansen’s form with the Foxes hasn’t been great, he was left with a defence in front of him last season that just wasn’t good enough.

The 25-year-old was a standout for Leicester in the Championship, and with a capable defence in front of him, he has the potential to become one of the best keepers in the top tier.

The Hammers require goalkeepers this summer after Fabianski departed the London club.

As it stands, Potter has Areola and Wes Foderingham as well as Krisztián Hegyi, who has been promoted to the first team.

Areola’s time at the London Stadium could be coming to an end

Areola could leave the Hammers this summer or find himself down the pecking order.

While the keeper had a respectable campaign last time out, there is an upgrade to be had on him, and at 32 years old, his value will only deteriorate.

As Potter starts to slowly build his own team, it feels like the right time for Areola to call it a day in East London and find regular football elsewhere.
