Julen Lopetegui makes West Ham United go all in for Max Kilman in transfer twist
West Ham United have gone all in to sign Max Kilman from Wolves because of his exciting relationship with Julen Lopetegui, according to The Mirror.
The newspaper has reported via its website (4 July) that the Spaniard has persuaded the Hammers to push hard for the Englishman.
West Ham has had a £40million bid accepted for the defender, with his medical set to take place this afternoon ahead of the announcement [Dharmesh Sheth].
Julen Lopetegui wants Max Kilman reunion at West Ham
The Hammers need additions at centre back having already lost the experience of Angelo Ogbonna this summer.
Add to this the potential of Nayef Aguerd leaving, a new option in the backline is going to be necessary.
The Wolves captain has that link to Lopetegui which means that a move to the London Stadium would make sense for both parties.
The Englishman is adept with the ball at his feet and is positive defensively which would certainly make him a useful addition.
At 27 years old, Kilman may be on the older side of players the Hammers want to sign after already adding the youth of Luis Guilherme this summer.

Lopetegui has also shown an interest in Jean Claire-Todibo in a swap deal for current club captain Kurt Zouma [Graeme Bailey, 4 July].
The Spaniard is unafraid to put his mark on his new squad ahead of his first campaign in charge at the London Stadium.
