Fabrizio Romano drops brand new Pablo Fornals exit update at West Ham United
Pablo Fornals has now seen his move to Real Betis from West Ham approved, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Italian journalist tweeted the update on Friday (2 February) after an IT issue on the Hammers’ end on the FIFA Transfer Matching System (TMS) had prevented the Spanish international’s deal from being completed before the deadline on Thursday (1 February).
But it now looks as though the 27-year-old attacking midfielder will make the switch to the La Liga club, with Romano reporting that the deal includes a £5.2million fixed fee plus £3.4million in add-ons.
Transfer approved
The deal had been very much in the balance since the transfer window slammed shut on Thursday following the issues West Ham faced with the TMS.
It’s quite a bizarre situation after Fornals was spotted inside the London Stadium for the Hammers’ game against Bournemouth on Thursday, suggesting the deal had fallen through.
That wouldn’t have been an ideal scenario for anyone as the Irons were keen to receive some cash for him and the Spaniard was desperate to make the move happen.
After his opportunities have been limited with us this season, he wants to go away and play some more regular first-team football.
You can’t really knock the attacking midfielder for that, so hopefully he can now look to get his career back on track after giving his all for us over the past few years.
