Dharmesh Sheth reveals James Ward-Prowse update, West Ham United deal now off

West Ham have seen another bid rejected for Southampton midfielder James Ward-Prowse, according to Dharmesh Sheth.

The Sky Sports journalist tweeted on 1 August that there had been a “twist” in the Hammers’ efforts to sign the Saints captain after talks had been “encouraging” between the two clubs.

He said West Ham made a bid for the 28-year-old and Southampton made a counter proposal that was rejected by the East Londoners, with the deal now being “off”.

Beyond frustrating

Just as it looked as though the Hammers were getting somewhere in their bid to sign Ward-Prowse, those hopes have quickly been dashed as the clubs have yet again failed to reach an agreement.

Sheth revealed in an earlier tweet on 1 August that the Irons were in advanced talks to bring the midfielder to the London Stadium, but the situation now appears to have changed.

It doesn’t come as too much of a surprise, though, as the club’s earlier bid of about £20million was a long way short of the Saints’ £40million valuation of the player.

West Ham

It seems as though we’re really being taken for a bit of a ride with our transfer dealing this summer after every other club knows we have more than £100million sitting in the bank following Declan Rice’s move to Arsenal.

The situation around the lack of signings is becoming more frustrating by the day and it’s about time we got one of these deals over the line.

In other West Ham news, David Moyes has been tipped to be the first PL manager to be sacked next season.
