David Ornstein issues West Ham United update as Reiss Nelson makes Arsenal decision
Reiss Nelson has told Arsenal he plans to leave and explore his options with West Ham, Crystal Palace, Fulham and Nottingham Forest keen, according to David Ornstein.
The Athletic journalist said on 14 June that any deal to sign the 24-year-old winger would be worth £20million including add-ons.
The Hammers are looking to bolster their attacking ranks and the London-born winger is understood to be on their radar.
Via Twitter, Ornstein wrote: “Reiss Nelson informs Arsenal he wants to asses options for potential transfer this summer. #AFC rejected approaches in January + would want ~£20m including add-ons if decide to sell. #CPFC, #FFC, #NFFC & #WHUFC among 24yo winger’s suitors.”
Reiss Nelson will be a solid addition at West Ham
Reiss Nelson’s potential move to the Hammers could be a significant boost for the club.
At 24 years old, Nelson is entering his prime and has shown glimpses of his talent during his time at Arsenal.
A product of Arsenal’s academy, Nelson has had limited first-team opportunities, making a move to the London Stadium an appealing prospect for him.
For West Ham, Nelson could provide much-needed depth and competition in the attacking areas despite signing Luis Guilherme.
His versatility, capable of playing on either wing or centrally behind the striker, would offer Julen Lopetegui tactical flexibility.
Moreover, Nelson’s pace, dribbling ability and eye for goal could add a new dimension to the club’s attack.
Furthermore, Nelson’s homegrown status is an attractive proposition for the club, considering the Premier League’s homegrown player rules.
In other West Ham news, a £33.7m update has emerged as the Hammers have made contact to sign the best dribbler in a top 5 European league this summer.
