Crystal Palace fear West Ham transfer hijack as Igor Julio medical underway

West Ham could still swoop in to sign Igor Julio from Brighton.

West Ham have shown late interest in Julio as Graham Potter looks to add fresh defensive reinforcements to his squad at the London Stadium.

This still looks to be the case after West Ham secured a huge 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest in what was their first win of the campaign.

With that being said, Julio has been strongly linked to Crystal Palace with a move to Selhurst Park picking up pace ahead of the 7pm transfer deadline on 1 September.

Despite this, there is still a chance that the E20 club could make a last-gasp approach to land Julio and scupper Oliver Glasner’s side.

West Ham could still sign Igor Julio

It has proven to be a largely turbulent window for the Irons, but it has looked better in the past week after West Ham signed Mateus Fernandes from Southampton.

There is still clearly a desire for further improvements in East London, although at this stage of the window, any deals may prove to be difficult to complete.

West Ham business so far this summer:

That hasn’t stopped David Sullivan and Co. from making a move to sign Julio, but they certainly face stern competition from Crystal Palace.

This comes after Sky Sports reporter Rob Dorsett reported on 1 September that the Brazilian is undergoing a medical with the Eagles.

With that being said, the current uncertainty surrounding Marc Guehi’s exit to Liverpool is causing doubts over completing the signing of the centre-back.

As a result, there is fear from Selhurst Park that the Hammers could make a late move to hijack a deal and land the centre-back this summer.

Igor Julio would be a signing of intent

There is no getting away from the struggles that the Irons have had in attacking areas this season already, something that can’t be overlooked.

Max Kilman and Nayef Aguerd have come under fire for their performances, which could see a new alternative come in before the window slams shut.

It is unclear as to what sort of impact Julio could have, but landing him ahead of Palace, especially after a medical, would be a massive show of intent.
