Crysencio Summerville chose to stay at West Ham as new transfer reveals emerges

West Ham are hoping that Crysencio Summerville will be refreshed after the international break.

Jarrod Bowen said Summerville “feels like a new signing” after he returned from injury as a substitute in the Hammers’ 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.

The winger missed much of last season due to injury and failed to live up to his potential after his £25million move from Leeds in August 2024.

Summerville has had the whole of the international break to stay fit and fight for his place in the first team, with a difficult run of games coming up.

Crysencio Summerville moves to Nottingham Forest muted

Summerville hasn’t had a full pre-season under his belt at West Ham, with Niclas Fullkrug and Bowen forming the Hammers’ strikeforce over the summer.

However, Fullkrug picked up an injury with Germany, which will open the door for his Dutch counterpart to make his first start.

West Ham have Tottenham, Crystal Palace, and Everton coming up in what could be decisive for Potter’s future at the London Stadium.

Crysencio Summerville was excellent for West Ham vs Nottingham Forest

Summerville could play a huge part, after it emerged that he had no interest in leaving the Irons in the summer.

According to The Athletic, Nottingham Forest viewed Summerville as an ideal replacement for Anthony Elanga.

Borussia Dortmund also showed interest in the winger, but as far as he was concerned, he had no interest in leaving Hammers, as he had unfinished business already.

Keeping Crysencio Summerville was important for West Ham

Given that the Hammers have one senior striker fit in Callum Wilson, keeping Summerville has proven to be massively important.

West Ham could face issues with Wilson, who is injury-prone, and his Dutch counterpart will relieve the pressure on the 33-year-old’s shoulders from out wide.

Despite contrasting reports, Summerville is understood to be fully fit and ready to start next time out against Tottenham.

The versatile attacking midfielder is excellent on the ball and can create chances while also having an eye for the spectacular.

In a squad that has looked toothless in attack, the 23-year-old could add some much-needed intensity alongside the likes of Bowen.
