West Ham are reportedly keen on signing former Newcastle and Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has delivered his verdict on his hamstring, back and calf issues in recent seasons.

The 33-year-old is available on a free transfer after his contract at Newcastle ran out at the end of June.

Wilson's extensive injury issues are a big worry ahead of a transfer

The Hammers will need to take a closer look at his extensive injury history and then weigh up the risks and rewards, according to Dr Brar.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: "The club will likely take a look at his extensive history of soft tissue injuries – including hamstring, low back and calf.

"They would also look for any signs of increased wear outside of acceptable risk for his age and matches played profile.

"Two major injuries sustained last season significantly impacted his game time and at 33, recovery isn’t the fastest, so it certainly is a worry."

West Ham should steer clear of signing Wilson

West Ham must steer clear of signing Wilson due to his age and persistent injury issues, which mirror the underwhelming impact of Danny Ings.

At 33, the former Newcastle forward's physical decline is evident, with recurring hamstring and calf injuries..

His modest output echoes Ings’ lacklustre spell at the London Stadium.

Signing Wilson would burden the wage bill with his high weekly salary, diverting funds from younger, more durable options.

His injury-prone profile risks leaving the Hammers short-handed, undermining Potter's push for consistency.

A younger, high-potential forward better aligns with the club’s long-term ambitions.
