Chelsea want around £40million for West Ham target Tammy Abraham

West Ham are interested in Tammy Abraham but he could cost around £40million according to The Telegraph.

The Hammers have been searching for a striker since Sebastien Haller left and are believed to be keen on Abraham.

The £50,000 a week [Daily Mail] striker has found his game time limited under Thomas Tuchel and Chelsea reportedly want to get his salary off the wage bill to make way for Erling Haaland or Romelu Lukaku.

West Ham

It is unlikely West Ham will be able to approach Abraham on a loan deal, as the 23-year-old wants to settle at a club where he will get regular first-team football.

Eye-watering sum

A fee of around £40million would be a massive outlay for West Ham and we will likely be apprehensive after paying a similar fee for flop Haller.

However, if we want an English, proven Premier League goalscorer then we have to be prepared to spend big.

Another target, Danny Ings, will likely cost similar, and it is no surprise considering Ollie Watkins cost Aston Villa £30million, and he had never played a minute of top-flight football prior to joining.

West Ham

Abraham knows where the goal is too.

He scored 15 goals last season when he was playing regularly and with greater responsibility at the London Stadium he could flourish.

Luis Suarez is a huge fan of the striker, calling him “incredible” in 2019 [talkSPORT], and that says a lot about Abraham’s talent.

The Atletico Madrid striker highlighted Abraham’s finishing and movement so he would add a different threat to Michail Antonio.

But like the current Hammers forward Abraham could use his physicality to hold the ball up.

So while paying £40million would be a bit of a risk, it is one that is worth taking.
