Aston Villa ready to accept Jhon Duran bid below asking price amid West Ham United news
Aston Villa are prepared to accept a lower bid for Jhon Duran from West Ham United provided the club secure a healthy sell-on clause, according to 90min.
The article by Toby Cudworth and Ben Jacobs [9 July] states that whilst Villa want £40m for the 20-year-old, they may accept a lesser transfer fee for a heavier tilt of any future sale.
West Ham have reportedly submitted a bid worth up to £35m for Duran [Fabrizio Romano, 9 July], with personal terms said to be agreed as the striker hunts regular first-team football.
West Ham may secure Duran below asking price
It certainly represents a short-term gain if West Ham are able to capture Duran for a fee below Aston Villa’s publicised asking price.
Where a potential deal this summer could come back to bite the Hammers would be if they are a victim of Duran’s own success whilst swapping one claret and blue shirt for another.
The Colombian is still only 20 and has shown excellent glimpses whilst playing second-fiddle to Ollie Watkins at Villa Park, and if he were to enjoy several triumphant years at the London Stadium, Villa could be huge beneficiaries and the Irons may be stung by how much would be owed to Unai Emery’s side.

Chelsea’s strong interest in recent weeks towards the striker has appeared to cool, and Duran appears direct in what he wants – despite Villa’s qualification for the Champions League for the coming season, the player is seeking an opportunity elsewhere as the main man.
The 10-cap Colombian international is away at the Copa America with his nation taking on Uruguay in their semi-final clash later this week, but Duran has so far played just 14 minutes in the tournament.
In other West Ham news, the club are eyeing another Copa America striker.
