West Ham cannot sanction January transfer of Adama Traore, the numbers explain why
West Ham have been linked with a January move for Fulham’s Adama Traore. However, this may not be wise.
Nuno Espirito Santo good history with the winger, with the pair being at Wolves during the height of their success in the Premier League where they became close.
Since the manager departed the Old Gold club in 2021, the two have never reunited, with the Spaniard now playing for Fulham.
Now, Nuno is looking to bring Adama to West Ham this winter, despite the numerous red flags regarding the deal.

Adama Traore has been terrible in the Premier League for years
Despite the hype surrounding Adama’s speed and strength, it is clear that the winger is past his best.
So far this season, the attacker has yet to even register a goal contribution in the Premier League, despite making nine appearances.
On top of this, Adama has been terrible in multiple other areas, with Fotmob on 11 November highlighting his terrible passing accuracy at 77.8 per cent and his cross accuracy at 23.1 per cent.
| Adama Traore in the Premier League this season | Per 90 minutes |
| Goals | 0 |
| Assists | 0 |
| Passing accuracy | 77.8% |
| Cross accuracy | 23.1% |
| xG | 0.07 |
| xA | 0.20 |
| Chances created | 1.11 |
| Disspossed | 1.48 |
Given how West Ham are desperate for quality additions in attack, multiple signs indicate that the Spaniard would be a waste of money.
On top of this, the fact that he cannot get into a weak Fulham team speaks volumes, with Adama only starting one match in the Premier League to date.
Realistically, if West Ham are to pull themselves out of a relegation battle, they need to sign proven quality. Unfortunately, Adama is no longer that.

West Ham could wait until the summer to sign Traore
If Nuno really wants to sign Adama, West Ham could simply wait until the summer.
The winger is set to be out of contract, and given his sparse role in the Fulham squad, it currently looks unlikely that his contract will be renewed.
Therefore, taking the winger on for a free would be less risky, and would certainly cost less than signing him from a potential relegation rival mid-season.
These are things Nuno must consider now that the January window is approaching.
