WHZ Stats: Said Benrahma sparkles in 27-minute cameo v Fulham
West Ham United winger Said Benrahma enjoyed a home debut which had everything against Fulham on Saturday.
The Algerian international signed on loan from Brentford last month but has only just been deemed fit enough for significant minutes.
Benrahma assisted the winner at the London Stadium, but also gave away a penalty for a late tackle on Thomas Cairney – we all know what happened there.
Looking at Benrahma’s 27 minutes on the pitch, he sparkled.
The 25-year-old injected much-needed flair and urgency in the final third and managed to have a couple of shots on target against Fulham.
Benrahma completed 100% of his dribbles, had three touches in the opposing box and also drew one foul in dangerous areas.
When facing a side as stubborn as Fulham, it is vital that you have players who can unlock the door, and that is exactly what David Moyes had on the bench.
Pablo Fornals went through a purple patch earlier this season, but Saturday was the first time he has faced criticism from fans for his display.
The Spaniard finished the game with an expected goal tally of only 0.05, his second-lowest of the season after the clash with Manchester City.
With a two-week break coming up, Benrahma will get more match fitness under his belt with Algeria and that could see his chances of a start at the London Stadium get better.
After a shining 27 minutes against Fulham, we can’t wait to see Benrahma for the Irons in the coming months.
