West Ham board’s latest mistake as loan collapses into huge waste of time
David Sullivan is going to have to dip his hands in his pockets to help Nuno Espirito Santo.
West Ham’s summer transfer window was regarded a failure, as Nuno now looks to shift deadwood out the club.
It’s not the first time Hammers supporters feel let down after Sullivan lavished £100m plus on transfers who have yet to really deliver.
Sullivan has come under fire at West Ham for many different reasons, but now it seems that he and Karren Brady have also failed to sanction a useful loan move for one of the Hammers’ young gems.

West Ham diamond Lewis Orford has yet to play a minute on loan at Stevenage
West Ham’s youth prospect Lewis Orford was loaned to Stevenage, who are pushing for promotion to the Championship this season, with hopes that the 19-year-old comes back ready to contest for a first-team spot.
The plan has gone the complete opposite way, as Orford has yet to register a single minute for Stevenage, who sit at the top of League One, as Sullivan and Brady are again to blame.
- Brady and Sullivan decided to sack David Moyes
- Nuno is the third manager they have appointed since Moyes was sacked
- Orford’s loan disaster is just one of several bad decisions from the West Ham board

West Ham will be mightily disappointed, as previous loan moves to lower leagues in the EFL for their players have worked out before. Orford could’ve followed in Freddie Potts’ footsteps.
Orford could still follow in the footsteps of West Ham’s Freddie Potts
Orford is highly-rated at West Ham, and has earned two senior appearances for the Hammers in the Premier League.
Nuno has used Soungoutou Magassa at defensive midfield in his first two games at the club, as academy graduate Freddie Potts has also managed 60 minutes so far under the new boss.
Games | Minutes per game | Average rating |

Potts had a successful loan move to Portsmouth in the Championship last season, where he established himself as a regular starter, and now looks set to be used more often by Nuno.
West Ham needs to recall Orford in January and sanction a much smarter move for their young talent, so that he can progress just like Potts did.
