Tomas Soucek West Ham future surely sealed after what Potter said
West Ham United have had a rather difficult time getting adjusted to the 2024/25 season.
While the Hammers may not be involved in the Premier League relegation battle just yet, it feels like that’s the way they’re heading at the moment.
Especially if they don’t choose to bring in some new faces before the 3 February deadline hits.
While plenty of players have been linked with a move to the London Stadium in the winter window, some have also been linked with moves away.
In the summer, Tomas Soucek was heavily linked with a London Stadium exit but after signing his contract extension at the start of January, it seems that he’s set to stay.
And, after what Graham Potter said in his pre-Chelsea press conference on Thursday (30 January), it seems that the midfielder is going to be in and around the starting XI for the rest of the term.
“He gives his best every single day, and gives his best in the games. He’s a dream in that regard,” he said.
“We actually tried to sign him at Brighton, so I know him well.”
Tomas Soucek is a reliable player for West Ham
As with every player every club, there are days when they’re not at their best and have left fans demanding more or even wanting to see the back of them after a performance.
Soucek is no different with fans calling for his head on more than one occasion already this season.
However, the fact he has an off game here and there doesn’t take away from the fact that he’s one of the Hammers’ best midfielders at the moment.
And, the fact that Potter tried to make a move for him when he was in charge of Brighton shows you where he stands regarding the midfielder’s future.
Only time will tell what the future holds but for at least the second half of the 2024/25 season, Soucek looks set to stay.
