Tim Steidten cannot sanction hasty West Ham United transfer decision

Tim Steidten cannot afford to inflict further scrutiny upon himself at West Ham United and must veto the move for Youssef En-Nesyri.

As per the Sunday Mirror [page 67, 24 November], Julen Lopetegui believes a reunion with En-Nesyri could help save job at the Hammers as the lack of goals has proved to be a severe cause for concern in East London.

However, Steidten finds himself in the firing line alongside the Spaniard after his excessive spending spree throughout the summer has yet to yield positive results.

The Hammers chief should not entertain what is perceived as a last-ditch attempt by an under-pressure manager that has the potential to backfire massively.

Tim Steidten should not be bullied into rash decisions at West Ham United

Niclas Fullkrug has spent the majority of his West Ham career on the sidelines nursing an Achilles injury, and while patience is wearing thin with the forward’s lack of availability, Steidten would do well to remember why he recruited the forward in the first place.

The 31-year-old helped Borussia Dortmund reach the Champions League final last season, and his well over 100 Bundesliga goals set him up nicely to become an instant success in the Premier League once he hits the ground running for the Irons.

Furthermore, Lopetegui is unlikely thinking of the precedent the En-Neysri signing would set, not only to the current crop of players but to the summer’s acquisitions if the Spaniard hastily moves to replace a player who has not yet been given a fair crack of the whip.

Jarrod Bowen and Mohammed Kudus, once he returns from his FA suspension, are more than capable of providing the goals for West Ham in the meantime – their lack of goals is not a question of ability but attributed to Lopetegui’s non-existent style of football hindering their progress.

Therefore, David Sullivan would be negligent in his duties as owner to provide further transfer funds to a man who may not be at the helm heading into the Christmas period [The Guardian].

En-Neysri had his opportunity to become the focal point of the Irons’ attack, and he turned down the opportunity, opting for Fenerbache, a move he will undoubtedly now regret, but adding a forward who has managed only three goals in the Turkish Super Lig to salvage the fortunes of a Premier League side, is an absurd idea when said out loud.
